The food was fantastic in quality and flavours. My partner, a South African ex-pat, was definitely back on the mother-ship!
The decor is very ‘South African Safari Lodge’... read more with some very quirky art. All of the staff are extremely friendly and attentive and, at the same time, highly professional and efficient.
The chicken wings in Piri-Piri sauce starter, while no problem for curry afficionados, definitely left a pleasant tingle in the mouth. I ordered a full rack of ribs I would have needed to starve for 48 hrs beforehand to have any chance of finishing them but I am informed this is what to expect if you go to a Saffa braai! The rib glaze was excellent and the char-grilled flavour just added to the overall flavour-bomb.
For the wine, we went for a bottle of Laborie Sauvgnon Blanc at Euro 25 which, for the quality of the wine, was excellent value for money. So, while I’m definitely no expert when it comes to the South African vineyards they get their wine from, I am guessing the rest of their wine list is equally as impressive.
On our first visit to this restaurant we were a little troubled by cigarette smoke from adjacent tables (as were a few other guests). We came back a second time anyway, because the food is so good, to find that the restaurant had taken on board the comments of a number of customers and there is now no smoking in the dining area. This is clearly a restaurant that cares about the dining experience of its customers!
This isn’t the cheapest restaurant in Paphos, but if you’re looking for great holiday memories and some of the best food you are going to come across, I think you will be hard–pressed to find better overall value for money anywhere else.Fredd111
August 14, 2022Well no words can describe truly how magical and stunning this restaurant is.
After looking into recommended restaurants in Paphos this was top of the list so had to venture... read more out to see for myself.
And was not disappointed no siree.
A short walk from our hotel,we arrived at the lodge 15 mins early
We had made a reservation upon being recommended to and were greeted by a lovely host.
We were taken to our seats out in the courtyard area of the restaurant and it was beautiful
The restaurant interior was truly South African and very cultural
As the restaurant had been described it was spot on.
Our drinks order was swiftly taken and complimentary Deep fried pitta bread with a traditional African dip was served shortly after.
Such a wonderful welcome with attentive staff.
After browsing the menu online previously to our visit.
I knew what I was ordering
The reef and beef
A succulent fillet steak with an abundance of fresh seafood.
I was informed the fillet was a different cut of meat than advertised and would be 6 euros more.
I was happy to pay this and was salivating
My bf ordered the pinko roll-steak sandwich and chips
When our order arrived my dish was accompanied by African red rice and just looked the absolute bomb
A large dish with a rich sauce, but so delicious and full of flavour.
I was given a separate plate for the seafood debris and warm wet wipe for my hands.
My bf dinner looked fabulous too.
Full of colour and flavour.
We wrte checked on regularly and nothing was too much trouble.
The waiter kindly took a lovely picture of us both as we sat under the moonlight enjoying our food.
From start to finish being transported to South Africa whilst in Paphos Cyprus was just 1 memorable experience and my favourite restaurant visited.
5* all the way
Definitely recommend
Thank-you The Lodge

We had a fantastic dinner and evening here; my gf is South African and she loved it! It was booked as a surprise treat for her and she was delighted... read more with the food and the decor of the place too. And for me it was great to get her advice and that of the staff on what to go for. Ribs was the favourite amongst the 2 adults and 3 kids but we also had boerewers and mealiepop, and some wings, all of which great. The bottle of 7even Pinotage was seriously good too. Final thing is that its a family run place - so important I think - and we got the chance to meet and chat to the lovely owners for a bit. All round, I'd recommend this to anyone

The downside of the meal was that the outside area is walled-in. When we visited on a previous evening (they were full that day, so ths is a restaurant definitely worth booking in advance) the owners showed us around and when we asked about cigarette smoke we were told there was only a few certain seats people could go to, to smoke (that’s our recollection, at least). So, it was a bit of a surprise and disappointment to have a couple on the next table both light-up cigarettes while they ordered, and between every course, and at the end of the meal. With the tables so close together and the enclosed walling, the smoke was eye-wateringly thick. My partner raised this with the waiter who apologised, but also then went to get them an ashtray! (A few mixed-messages there, perhaps)
So, all those lovely food flavours marred by the smell and taste of cigarettes a shame for us and a travesty for all the chef’s excellent skills.
Would I go again? Yes, if only to see the look on the face of a South African who tells me this is some of the best South African food she has ever tasted.Fredd111

We went to The Lodge for a family meal (8 guests). This is a very popular restaurant and making a reservation is essential,
We made a reservation for 8:30... read more and turned up at 8:25. We were then told our table wasn’t ready but would be 5-7 mins. 20 mins later we were still waiting so a waitress got us a round of drinks on the house. We eventually got seated at 9:15.
We placed our order and then relaxed whilst waiting.
2 of us shared a meat meze and it was lovely but I believe it delayed the arrival of the food for the rest of the table, these included 4 very hungry children. After 2 courses I asked the waitress when the rest of he table would receive their food so she went and checked and the chef said it would be 7 mins.
The main meals were brought out at about 10pm, so 90 mins after we made the booking.
Despite the delay, everyone had a great meal and I’d definitely recommend the food.
As an apology the restaurant gave us a round of drinks and then 2 bottles of wine, so they did make an attempt to make up for the delays.p_mc03
August 9, 2022• Arrived and the booking was not recorded despite us having a booking

• no fillet steak available, but there was a... read more different one more expensive
• Same with the wine, Pinotage not available but a more expensive one was
• smoking is allowed everywhere in the restaurant, people sat next to us smoking all evening. not good with kids
• service moves at a snails pace. 35-40 mins for food order.
• asked for medium rare steak but it came Blu. I still ate as we had already been there any age.
• bill was excessive for the quality. I’d been to a local taverna the previous night where food was just as good at half the price.
Its basically a South African resultant that doesn’t have SA food available. What sort of steak house has no fillets available?????!
Came here three years ago and it was a gem so it’s a shame to see it so bad.
